absolutely moving.

that's incredible song, and you made the message 20x as strong. do you think you could e-mail me the flash movie so i can show that to my youth group? matt@rwcrevolution(dot)com
god bless, man.

squeakytoad responds:

I'll see about it.
And in the meantime, you can always direct your youth group to this page, or just load the movie on a computer and move it into the room you're showing it in without exiting the window.
Thanks for the really positive review!

cool!

i like the whole concept of this. it's pretty much a moving comic strip. just short little animated segments. this will probably throw most people off a bit, but i like the idea. good job with the first 3 episodes.

CalicoMonkey responds:

Yes! I'm quite certain you're the first person that got the "moving comic strip" idea of it without being prompted. For figuring it out, you get a cookie: the dimensions of the episodes (850 x 270) are identical to my favorite web comic, pvponline.com.

Absolutely Kickass!

Seriously. I'm not a hardcore skate/snowboarder (although i do enjoy it), but this had my jaw on the floor. Your imagination for the tricks, the incredibly smooth animation, the just over all coolness of this films shines bright. Keep up the fantastic flash work!

SolidSacketh responds:

Thanks! It's good to know someone digs it. After all, I just lost to singing dolphins-of all the shit that could have beaten me.

How the hell is this not at the 4.3+ range?!

I've been on NG for years, and this is among the most well-written, well-animated, well-voiced, and all out well-produced toons I've ever seen on here! This is pretty much College University taken the 10th power... and CU is funny! Very good humor, and it was pulled off really well. The whole sketch with Hanzel and Gretel had me busting up at work and people giving me weird looks. Awesome stuff!

yello-dart responds:

Haha, man, because there aren't anough cool-ass people like you. Thanks for the review, I was kinda thinking it deserved a higher score too! (???)

Oh well, as long as people get to see it and enjoy it, score doesn't matter. And it looks like you did! Thanks.

a fair review for ya.

i haven't submitted anything yet, but i have done quite a bit of work in flash (for websites mainly), and i know how hard it is to put something together like this. so let me say first off, that you did a great job with artwork. the animation was good, and you had some really clever stuff (the space invaders, pacman in the maze, etc). also a fairly original concept, what with the mushrooms attacking and all.

here's some constructive criticism:

- i am a fan of random asian electronic music, i have a bunch in my library. BUT, that song did not fit with this film AT ALL. it really destracted from the movie.
- the plot was quite jumbled, and i was confused as to why the mushroom kingdom was attacking pacman and his gang... what happened to mario? if it was maybe new games vs old games or something, that would have made sense.
- finally, i think you could have been a bit more creative with the weapons being used by the mushrooms. it really just felt like a civil war battle with mushrooms instead of the british! ;)
- oh yes, and the ending was way too abrupt. really no resolution at all.

to me this seems like on of those movies that could be reworked to be something well worth my 5 vote! but for now, it gets my 4. good luck in the future!

Snow-Fox responds:

sweet thx for a fair review

ALL TENS, ALL MY FIVE!

That was really REALLY well done. The comic timing was absolutely PERFECT, the animation was smooth as hell, and this seems to be a great idea for a new series.

I obviously didn't mark you down for this, but the whole character intro is SOOOOOOO cliche. Whenenver I view a new flash series that has that style of intro, it immediatly turns me off to the rest of the flash. Luckily this flash was good enough for that not to matter... but maybe think of a more creative intro for the next one? No worries, more of a minute detail than necessary.

Well done, and I look forward to the next installments.

FleckoGold responds:

Glad you liked this. And this character intro? Dead...you'll never have to see it again. (Unless of course you watch this again...)

That was actually really good!

I thank GOD you did not do one of those gay intros where they show the characters and their names and crap. Just an up front and in your face comedy... really well written, well voiced, well animated... well done!

margarine responds:

Yeah, I fucking hate those intros too. Thanks for the fifen :)

Constructive Criticism

First off I wanna let you know this get's a 10 all around. Very well done. A couple ideas though...

I know you're crossing over your own series into the Salad Fingers universe, and that's cool. However, with your skill in recreating that universe, why not try a pure Salad Fingers parady, without adding the new characters? I think you would do a great job if you were to make a parody episode that played out more liks a Salad Fingers (just making fun of it along the way).

Secondly, this episode didn't seem to focus as much on the Salad Fingers style as the first. I was waiting for a random person to "talk" by screaming, or for someone to have a rusty item of some sort.

Finally, I think using the Salad Fingers styled music would have really added to the piece, rather than pop artists instead.

No worries though, still a great piece, and I look forward to more of your work.

rtil responds:

I think the reason I didn't go that far into the Firth universe is that I didn't want to seem like a complete rip off of his style and have people accusing me of simply copying his work. That's why I wanted to mix it with something unorthodox, like the music style.
I know this is a lot different from the first episode (which was made in a day.) Both just kind of went off of a small idea and grew from it with no boundaries. This is a little less weird from the first because it's longer, has some meager excuse for a plot and, well, half the people who watched the first Pallid Fingers simply couldn't get their heads around it. But thank you for the review, and I'm glad you enjoyed it nonetheless.
Expect pretty different cartoons than this one from me in the future.

All tens of course...

But I always ask artists when I see incredibly high quality stick animations with human like characteristics... why not just use real people as characters? This is probably the sole reason this doesn't have well over a 4. People are so tired of sticks. Anyways, I thought it was great, and I don't personally mind sticks, but I'm sure that's what 95% of your bad reviews will be for. Good luck!

Get-lost responds:

There's a special feeling of good stick movies. That's all I can say :)

Thanks for the review

I... Don't.... Get it!

And yes I did see the first one... I was just confused by the plot of the toon. It was well animated, and the sound quality was awesome. (Although it would have been better if you had used an actual chick for the voice of the wife). There were some funny parts too... just didn't make much sense. But then again, what does on NG nowaday!? =P

epyon5 responds:

It's funny that you mention the voice of the wife. We couldn't find a female who was comfortable with doing it so I reluctantly did it. I'm not happy with it and the only way I can get through it is to try and do my best/worst Divine imitation from 'Pink Flamingos'!
